Telephone transcription is an important mechanism for legal evidence. Reliable legal transcription companies provide transcripts of recorded telephone conversations to be used as evidence or testimony.

Good Recording Helps Better Telephone Transcription

Journalists also benefit hugely by recording telephone interviews. It is probably what every journalist must do, with the consent of the interviewee obviously, and in line with federal or state laws. It helps in easier transcription and is also a safety net in case the journalist should get into trouble over what he/she reports of the interview. Recording used to be done ever since the analog bell ringing telephone days but with smartphones now taking over, it’s a lot simpler.

There are smart tools out there to get recording done, without which things could be really difficult. These apps allow you to record without your ever having to lose focus on the interview. Obviously, these apps are valuable aids for attorneys and detectives. These and other advanced tools are frequently used by legal professionals for recording and transcription of telephone conversations.

Google Voice

Google Voice is a very convenient and efficient recording app and is also free, though is only available in the United States. It is applicable for Android, iOS and Windows Phone operating systems and is absolutely effortless. All you have to do is create a number on Google Voice and get it routed to your phone. When you make the call, just press "4" during the call. Then you are ready to start the recording.

It does not pose any problem if you are using the same phone for your personal use as well. In that case, you can use the Google Voice number you have set as your work number. The app will get your official calls routed directly to voicemail in your non-working hours. This app also provides a customized caller experience with personalized greetings, generates transcripts of voice mails, and is also featured to add notes and share voice mails. You can also make conference calls and international calls.

TapeACall

The TapeACall app works for iPhones. It helps record calls about to be made and those you are already making. After the recording is done, it shows up instantly and you can choose to save or share the file instantly as an MP3. You only have to pay $9.99 per year, which makes it good value for money since you do not have to worry about monthly payments. It works in 45 countries and is available in 28 languages. Sharing can be done through SMS, email or even through Facebook and Twitter.

Call Recorder

If you are conducting interviews on Skype, Call Recorder is great, though you will need a Mac computer. This tool gets the audio and video calls you make on Skype recorded directly to your Mac. You can allow the recording to take place automatically or can initiate it with the "Record" button. You can check the audio levels while Call Recorder is running, which allows you to examine the recording. This isn’t a free app though a free trial is offered if you have a Mac OS X 10.8 or a later version and the Skype 6.15 or later version. The app requires a one-time payment of $29.95. It certainly seems worth checking out.

Yallo

Yallo is a reasonably well known call recorder. It is an Android app, though the iOS version is being developed. Yallo helps recording all outgoing calls, but you can select the calls that need to be recorded. Though it is a free download, calling to numbers that don’t have Yallo requires credit. New users are provided with a $3 call credit. That said, Yallo international call rates are claimed to be among the lowest, and you don’t need to create a new number for Yallo.

The app is offered in USA, the UK and Israel only for now. Flex is one of the coolest features of Yallo. It helps you use Yallo even if you have lost your current phone with your SIM card in it. You can access Yallo from another phone. Incoming calls will come to your new or temporary number, while the calls you make will have your caller ID. The voice mail recording can also be sent to your email.

Automatic Call Recorder Pro

This is another Android app which provides options similar to Yallo except that there are two additional features. You can save many more recordings than the 500 limit set by Yallo. And to begin recording you don’t need to look for a button – all you need to do is shake the phone. The app costs $6.99.

These efficient smartphone interview recording apps promote easier telephone transcription and are a useful tool for both journalists and legal professionals.
