Choose a boat shipping company that is experienced, respects your property and will work for you.

I have been promoted and because of the promotion my job has transferred me to an office overseas. It’s a great job, a fantastic opportunity and I’m very excited to go but I have concerns about my property. I have a beautiful fishing boat and I don’t want to leave it behind. I don’t have much time to figure out how I’m going to get my boat from here to there or how much it is going to cost me to ship my boat, so I’d better get on it.

To get my fishing boat overseas to my new job location I look for a shipping company that specializes in boats. The company must be licensed and bonded. I want a company that will take care of my boat carefully and legally. I want the boat shipping company to have the ability to ship many different kinds of boats. I’m also looking for an affordable and reliable shipping company. Preferably the shipping company will have many years of experience shipping to different parts of the world. It’s important that the boat shipping company be knowledgeable of the import and export regulations in both the countries.

What I discover is that the cost of shipping my boat overseas depends on the size, dimensions and weight of the vessel. The cost of shipping the boat also will vary depending on what shipping method I choose. I could choose to ship it in a cargo container. Another option is to put my boat on a trailer and have it rolled onto the ship.

Whichever way I choose I want to make sure that my boat is safe from damage. Another thing I discovered is that there is special paperwork required before the boat can leave the US. The final important discovery I made while learning how to ship my boat while moving overseas is that the whole process is not as easy as I would have thought.

After considering the shipping cost of boat and choosing a shipping company I ready my boat for transport. I call the company and set up an appointment to meet with them. They go over the various procedures it takes to get my boat from here to there.

We agree on a shipping method and I agree to pay a little bit more just to make sure the job is done right. I measure my boat according to directions and they help me re-measure just to be sure. I provide all of the shipping documents and purchase boat insurance just as a precaution. Finally I drop the boat off according to the directions I was given. Lastly, I wait on the other side for my precious fishing boat.
