With the rise of internet, content marketing has become a crucial component for the success of businesses. Weather a business is small or multinational; implementing a formidable content strategy has become a necessity. This has given birth to a population of content writers who write on diversified subjects and are expert in educating target customers, wooing them to make purchases. These trends indicate that digital writers are now dominating the publishing industry.

On the flip side, the lovers of literature who enjoy reading hard bound version of books from the authors which have their unique perceptions and unique storytelling skills, still prefer reading paper books over e-books. The budding authors, who have a story to tell, find it difficult to make the transition from paper books to digital media. The charm of writing is getting lost amongst the terabytes of content being developed every minute online.

Internet has made it easier for people with less or no skills to publish themselves on the internet. Earlier an author had to write stories that had a strong personal viewpoint and a unique storyline to convince the publisher that his work would sell like hotcake. Internet publishing with the option of starting your own website has to a certain extent lowered the quality of writing. Anyone with an internet and a laptop can start self publishing his or her own e-books and with help of some search engine optimization you can easily get large number of visitors on your site.

With millions of self publishers uploading content every day it is becoming difficult every passing day for the readers to decide which blog site to follow and whose content is of value to them. This leads to disappointment for the reader as they are not getting what they are looking for. The kind of writings that touches their soul is missing. Those who say that the days of paperback books are over, tend to ignore the fact that avid book readers still prefer to sit in a corner with a cup of coffee in their hand, breathing in the smell of the fresh pages and reading their favourite paperback book over anything in this world.

From the authors perspective they were never worried about the business side of writing. The genuine authors write because they have something to say not because they have something to sell. They have their own world, their own thoughts which distinguish them from the rest. Similar to a reader, a writer could be found sitting somewhere in the corner with a pen and paper, sipping on a freshly brewed coffee.

Although whether the writers like it or not they have to make the transition from paperback to e-books. There is need for more digital publishers who are well established as a brand and the content they publish is of high quality. Through digital publisher’s the writers will also find it easier to stand out of the clutter and get their work the spot light it needs.
