If you want to buy a unique brand of watch, you might want to consider some models from a brand of watch which has a rich history behind it. DKNY watches, amongst few other brands, deliver just that. Before you decide to buy one of these watches for yourself, here is a small history of the brand for you.

DKNY watches came into existence only in 1989 but the background story has a deeper root which goes long back. DKNY stands for Donna Karan New York. Donna Karan was born in Long Island to a tailor father and her mother worked as a sales representative of a fashion brand. With such parents she hardly needed any introduction to fashion. In fact, her talent was evident early when she wasn't even out of high school and she came up with her first fashion collection. It was probably decided then that she would have a great career ahead of her.

Before DKNY brand and DKNY watches came into existence, she worked for Anne Klein. This professional relation became so successful that when Klein passed away, Donna became the successor. Very soon after that, in 1984, she came up with her own brands but this brand focussed only on clothes and accessories.

However, with keen business acumen, she realised there is an opportunity in the market and she launched DKNY in 1989 to bridge this gap. She initially wanted to create sophisticated yet slightly trendy clothing and accessories. People warmly welcomed her new brand. The brand started growing almost instantly. DKNY jeans, DKNY active and many others variations entered the market. The accessories line grew as well and DKNY watches very soon entered the market and became one of the most stylish watches around.

While DKNY is much more than just watches, DKNY watches are now seen as one of the most fashionable, high quality and popular wrist watches in the world.

The company has more than 70 stores in the world with more than 20 store in China alone. You can find only a handful retailers selling DKNY watches in London.

The sophistication which DKNY represents can be found in each model of the brand. However, these watches are rather affordable, especially when compared against some of the higher-end watches.

This is why DKNY watches have remained popular as people can actually buy these watches and enjoy the benefits what a big brand can offer.
