Mashobra is a little village situated in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state. This quaint town is known for its scenic beauty and rich flora and fauna. With the mighty Himalayas lying at its backdrop, Mashobra is hugely famous amongst peace-seekers, looking to move away from the crowd. Its claim to fame can be determined from the fact that it’s included as one of the President’s holiday retreats. Every year, the President’s office shifts to the retreat at Chharabra. This holiday home was constructed in 1850 and made entirely out of wood. This 16 rooms bungalow spreads on a sprawling area of 300 acres. So, if you’re planning to pay a visit to the President, a summer trip to Mashobra, wouldn’t be that bad idea afterall.

Mashobra is well connected to Shimla through the historic Tibet-Hindustan road, constructed by Lord Dalhousie in 1850. The hilly town has abundance of natural beauty and is filled with gorgeous ravines, rich forests and an amazing weather. Located at an elevation of 2500m, Mashobra is an ideal outing for nature lovers and also for those looking for solitude and peace.

If you’re specifically focusing on Mashobra, then there are ample of Hotels near Shimla railway station which are cheap and good for laying your base. Several first timers, don’t have clue about the accommodation options in Mashobra, for them these budget options are great. Before venturing out to Mashobra, it is better to learn about the place. You can either look up on the internet or ask fellow tourists about the best ways to enjoy the place.

If you’re a budding photographer, you might feel like a kid in Disneyland, having no clue where to go and what to click, as the entire place is just fabulous. There are few resorts in the town which promises utmost peace. So, even if you don’t want to do anything and spend your time lying around in the terrace or your room, Mashobra will still be breathtaking for you. There are few heritage cottages built by the maharajas of Himachal, which have been converted into hotels. But it's advisable to check the availability before booking one.

Another important thing for the visitors is to have their mode of transport for reaching the hill station. Public transport is limited and private taxis can ask for hefty charges, so it's better to take your own vehicle (and spare parts) before heading out. So if you’re up for a soothing time in the Himalayan valley, keep Mashobra in your list as it can be visited throughout the year.
