Different Methods of Laser Cutting:

• Fusion Cutting (High Pressure Cutting)

  In this case, the laser beam is focused at a point on the surface along which the cutting needs to be done. The material at this focal point melts & a cutting gas is used to remove this molten material from the kerf. Materials like stainless steel, aluminum and their alloys are cut using this technique

• Oxidation Cutting (Laser Torch Cutting)

  Here, the material to be cut is heated by laser beam until combustion temperature is reached. Cutting gas at a medium pressure is used for oxidation of material and to remove the slag from kerf. This technique is employed when cutting needs to be done in the shortest time possible & is generally utilized for cutting carbon steels.
