Queensland’s Gold Coast is known for Surfer’s Paradise and the multitude of theme parks dotted along the coast. While year round throngs of visitors travel to the coast’s entertainment hubs to let loose, others are drawn in by the beach, warm blue sky and sparkling waters of the ocean. Others again are drawn in by the beautiful natural habitats of the Gold Coast hinterland, the peaceful rainforest and wildlife sanctuaries. Here is a breakdown of some of the things to see and do in our corner of the world:

Hinterland accommodation with spa:

First things first, where to stay? Although a beachfront apartment above Surfer’s might be the go-to option for many, we recommend trying something a little different with romantic accommodation in the Gold Coast hinterland. Nestled in peaceful rainforest surrounds, this type of accommodation is within a short drive to all the excitement of the beaches and offers a quiet place to rest your head. It’s also less likely to break the bank than many beachfront options.

Currumbin Valley:

Currumbin is highly popular for romantic escapes. Many enjoy celebrating special occasions including birthdays, anniversaries and honeymoons in this region. It has become a major tourist attraction for people of all age groups due to the peaceful surrounds and its proximity to national parks, beaches and more. Gold Coast hinterland accommodation with spa can also be found here for couples visiting the area.

Enjoying the Theme Parks:

While staying in the Gold Coast hinterland, a couple can enjoy some of the action-packed theme parks, all located within 45 minutes’ drive.

Some of the exciting theme parks are:

  • Dreamworld
  • Sea World
  • Warner Bros. Movie World
  • Wet‘n’Wild
  • White Water World

Scenic drives and walks:

Take a break from the hustle and bustle and venture out on a bush walk at any of the National Parks in the area. Choose from the rainforest sky walk, glow worm caves, tree top walkway, botanic gardens and much more to discover the natural beauty of the area.

If you’re not ready to get lost in the wild, take a scenic drive up to Mt Tamborine to enjoy incredible views coupled with markets, spas and retreats, wineries, galleries and heritage sites.
