Before his senior year of high school, the Montverde Basketball Academy, now the top-ranked high school basketball program in the country, took notice of his play in AAU and high school. Because of this, Rob Chubb was given a full scholarship to attend Montverde, where he started in almost all of the school's games.

Rob Chubb's success at Montverde was noticed by a number of colleges. Wisconsin, Georgia, Tennessee, College of Charleston, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, and Georgia Tech all registered an interest in bringing him to their basketball program, but Auburn University offered him a full athletic scholarship. Rob Chubb was immediately offered a professional contract with Giessen 46er’s in Germany after college. He played for Giessen for one season and started the majority of the team’s games at center. He retired from professional basketball due to a lingering back injury.
