Motorcycles are changeable machines of metal, riders aren’t. A rider’s height, weight and comfort level cannot be adjusted with every motorcycle they ride, but a motorcycle can surely be adjusted according to the rider. Small things like a bar or seat change can go a long way in enhancing the overall riding experience of the biker. So how do you find out what changes can make your motorcycle fitted perfectly to you?

Usually the manufacturer’s standard settings are good enough, but there are a lot of factors that they cannot possibly consider while setting up the motorcycle, which is why personal customisation becomes necessary. You can get a basic idea of what to adjust, simply, by considering how the bike feels and fits next time you take a bike ride down a highway. Imagine how the bike could be improved? Read up on bike riding tips in advance to check similar experiences and what exactly to look for. Basic research will tell you to check the grip placement, look out for cramping between the handlebar and seat, leg placement according to tank, engine, foot pegs and support of the saddle.

If everything except the handlebar position seems right, a handlebar change might suffice. However, remember that unless you have a windshield, a higher bar will result in increased pressure due to relative wind speed. If your pegs need to be changed, floorboards are a good solution because they allow you to move your foot around. A few riders benefit from sliding the lever’s perch away from the grip on the bar while some riders benefit from sliding the lever’s perch away from the grip to allow them to engage the lever further outwards. Foot control levers should also be adjusted very carefully. Many shifting problems can be traced back to levers that are too high, low, long or short. Lastly, mirrors should be adjusted to cover the edges of the lanes behind to allow you to spot something that might seem to appear suddenly!

The end results of all adjustments should be more comfort, precision and control over the motorcycle. Well thought out adjustments have been known to turn an unpleasant riding experience into an incomparably great one. Remember that even minute changes can turn your life around, at least as far as biking is concerned. For more such biking tips on safety and technology log on to www.trailsofindia.com.
