Acacia Flooring being one of the most beautiful flooring option at this time. It is not a matter of doubt that you will want to keep your house decorated at all times. Also, you will want your flooring to be kept in a protected manner. This flooring is a rare one to find and thus, these are costly to get as well. You would never want to mess with the flooring. Rug Pads can help you protect your flooring but finding the right one can be a task.

Wrong pads can smudge the finish of your wood flooring and you cannot get the finishing once it is ruined. Most of the rug pads are high in VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) as these are made using petroleum based chemicals like PVC. The VOC’s chemically bonds to the polyurethane finishes of your floor.

What To Look For In The Rug Pads?

Safety: Mostly pad is for safety purposes. These keep the rug flat and stationary by preventing you from any slips or falls from rug movement.

Preservation: A pad is supposed to prevent the rug from damaging the surface of the Acacia flooring surface. Some rugs and carpet are woven on an abrasive and in that case, pads back materials which can wear. Pad helps the finish of your floor left unchecked and untouched completely and it also prevents any dye-transfer from the rug to the floor finish.

You can find various types of rug pads in the market like:

  1. Polyvinyl (PVC) based pads which will cost you less but these does not qualify on being non-toxic content or VOC emissions.
  2. Synthetic Latex which contains of clay fillers blended with the latex. These are good for a short period.
  3. 100% Natural Rubber is a medium priced pad made of rubber tree sap. It is eco-friendly and provides non-stick grip to the Acacia flooring surface.
  4. 100% Felt Pads are great for adding cushion to your rug. This works best on larger rugs which as it lacks the grip of rubber.
  5. Felt/Rubber Hybrid Pad offers the best option as it is available with cushioned protection with the gripping attributes of the rubber.

Rug can be rough at times because of their designs and textures, it can lead to permanent damage to the floor. Some of the lower cost latex or synthetic rubber pads are made with clay fillers, it can cause break down after some initial days and spread dust all over the place. Thus, selecting the quality rug pad is essential as it can prevent potential problems your Acacia flooring might have otherwise.
