Glasgow airport is among the biggest air hubs in the United Kingdom. It, like the Heathrows and Prestwicks, has been experiencing considerable annual growth especially in the last 5 years. This has been the result of certain combined factors. Among them, and perhaps the biggest, is a general economic growth across the United Kingdom. Notwithstanding the obvious economic quakes the UK, Europe, and indeed the rest of the world have been experiencing, the UK’s economic graph has been on an upward swing. This has allowed more people to afford air travel for purposes such as business, leisure, education, and indeed for family visits.

The second largest contributor to the growth of passenger numbers going through Glasgow airport is the sheer number of routes the airport has added to its already handsome catalogue. However, there is room for wonder as to whether the new routes are the result of increasing traffic, or the increasing traffic is as a results of the added routes. The fair assumption would be that it’s is a symbiotic relationship.

The third largest contributor may have nothing to do with the airport, or the economy of the region near Glasgow Airport. It has more to do with the opening of more economic and leisure interests in those destinations serviced b Glasgow Airport. This may have led to more people traveling to such places for holidays and business.

These increasing numbers of travelers have impacted different people in different ways. For some, like the airport itself, the retailers, and restaurants that operate there, the hotels that surround the air hub, and other businesses like taxi and bus operators, the effect has been the most positive one. However, the ones that have had it bad are the travelers trying to get Glasgow Airport parking at less than exaggerated prices. As the law of supply and demand would have it, the scarcity has led to more people willing to pay more to acquire a good slot for their car. In most cases, the total fee can be as high, or even higher than what you spend on the ticket.

This situation has caught the eyes of those that never let an opportunity to make money pass, even if it means providing a service so pathetic it is almost daylight robbery. There have been makeshift parking companies that have sprung up here and there to fill up the dripping-ripe demand. When all is said and done, horror stories abound, the type that end with a passenger and their vandalized car.

Although the urge to jump on anything that presents itself as a chance to save money is an understandable one, it is important for people to take it easy and do their due diligence on whatever parking they opt for. Instead of adding another entry to the already long logs of disappointed passengers, it would be wise to learn from the current victims. A little Google search of the company involved will show you more than you need to know, provided that particular company has been running for a while.
