A tensile test is done to test a material’s strength. It’s a mechanical test where a pulling force is given to a material from both sides until the sample changes shape or breaks. It’s is an important test that offers a lots of information about the material being tested, including the yield point, elongation, tensile strength and the ultimate strength of the material. Tensile tests are done on substances such as plastics, metals, wood and ceramics.

Tensile testing systems use various units of measurement. The International System of Units recommends the use of either Pascals (Pa) or Newtons per square meter (N/m²) for describing tensile strength. In the US, many engineers measure tensile strength in kilo-pound per square inch (KSI)

The instrument is to be used on Tensile or Universal testing machines to evaluate Proof stress & Young’s modulus values. In case of many fragile materials such as high carbon steels, light aluminum & magnesium alloys, it is tough to get yield values.

High temperature tensile testing is a method to test the properties of a material beyond room temperature. It determines the following parameters:

  • Breaking strength
  • Yield strength
  • Elongation
  • Area reduction

Testing specialist, measurement and control device is required to perform this test.

The results of such a test gives a good indication of the static load bearing capacity of the material and therefore establishes whether a material is suitable for its intended purpose.

TOR steel is one of the best grade of steel used in concrete construction. It’s a type of high adherence steel. Other steel types are used for lesser resistance concrete. Thermo mechanically Treated (TMT) bars are a type of corrosion resistant steel reinforcing bar used in concrete construction.

The bend test is done to measure a metal’s ductility. Bending tests are performed to ensure that a metal has enough ductility to stand bending without fracturing.

The NICK-BREAK TEST is essential for determining the internal quality of the weld metal. The test reveals various internal defects; if present.
