With an arrival of Windows 10, Microsoft has again made a strategic move to capture its lost customer base. The return of traditional Start button and combination of live and pinned apps on the Start menu impresses a lot of Windows users worldwide and are making them excited to access, use, and praise the all new features of this new OS version. Virtual desktops are now added as a built-in feature in Windows 10 to help you open a lot of programs at once, without worrying much about keeping them organized and managing them with ease. If you’re new to Windows 10, then you can read the tips mentioned below to know how you can easily use this feature without making much effort:

Tips for Using Virtual Desktops in Windows 10

  • The feature in Windows 10 is called "Task View" and you can easily locate it on the Taskbar.
  • Click the "Task View" button to launch the Task View interface
  • Once launched, you can see your open windows
  • If you’re trying to open the Task View interface for the first time, then click the "Add a desktop" button to add another virtual desktop.
  • Click the "Task View" button to display all your desktops on the Task View interface.
  • If you have program windows open on your desktops, then they will appear as thumbnails of the desktops on the interface
  • Moving your mouse over a desktop can help you open programs on that desktop
  • Alternatively, you can click on one of the large thumbnails to make that program active
  • If you love to use keyboard, then press the ‘Windows key + Tab’ to outline the programs open in the currently active desktops
  • Pressing the ‘Tab’ button again removes the outline from the active program thumbnail
  • You can use the arrow keys to move your current selection among the desktops available on the Task View interface
  • Once your desired desktop gets highlighted, press Enter to activate it and work easily on the open window

It is important to consider that clicking the icon not only activates the program, but also activates the virtual desktops on which the program is open. If you wish to close a desktop, then click the "Task View" button to launch the Task View interface, move your mouse over the desired thumbnail, and then click the ‘X’ button to close the thumbnail.
