As Yama tried to enter the house in the form of a snake, he was dazzled by the brightness of the house and could not enter the house. Thus he settled down on the top of a tree and got lost in the melodious tunes of the song and therefore missed his timeline. As this process started, Goddess Lakshmi appeared again, sitting on a lotus flower and with fill of radiance and opulence. The gods and demons continued to churn the ocean for Amrit or nectar, Finally Dhanvantari emerged carrying a jar of the nectar. Both the gods and demons wanted the amrit, but finally Vishnu managed to give the immortal nectar to the gods and the asuras were defeated. Thus the churning of the ocean resulted in the immortality of the Devtas and was the reason for Lakshmi's emergence.
