A stair is a series of steps, each elevated at a measured distance, starting from one level of a structure to another. An average person climbs several sets of stairs every day. Before escalators and elevators were invented, stairs were in use long before that. Since ages, this architectural aspect of infrastructural designs has remained the same, which is to climb-up and down. Although there have been tremendous changes in the designs of the trappor, aesthetically and structurally both, in the last couple of decades. The methods of building the stairs have changed, although the basic approach is more of less the same. In this article we will take a look at how stairs are built and some associated tips.

One needs to possess technical expertise while learning to build stairs, as it is a particularly difficult task to build stairs for a deck or a porch. The assembly work must be performed by a skilful carpenter who understands the basic principles of stair design and knows layout and construction procedures.

A staircase is comprised on three basic components, which are as follow:

  1. Stringers
  2. Treads
  3. Risers

Stairs are designed to support the weight of the person climbing them, thus it is very important that the boards should be properly sloped so that they can provide support. It is advisable that the stairs should be wide, as the wider the stairs are, the safer and more comfortable they are to use.

How to byggatrappa?

The most important thing to take into account is to determine the cut line from where the stairs begin and end. If one looks at the stairs, they will find that the treads are parallel with the tread above and below them. The same can be applied for risers. The precision should be so perfect that the intersection of any tread and any risers forms a perfect right angle.

Treads are basically the top surface of the every stair and risers are installed for the support under each tread. Besides providing support, risers are also useful in protecting the end-grain from the weather. Failing to install proper risers will cause stringers to crack and split and lead to a major mishap.

Once the risers and treads are properly built, installing them requires some finesse. It is very important that one first installs the risers after which they should go for treads. While the basic design trappor is sketched out, it is advisable that the builder must leave some space between the treads. Treads are installed from downwards direction to upward direction.

In the beginning of the construction process, carpenters build temporary stairs by using framing lumber which provides access till the stairs are installed and construction work is done.Quite often they are designed to be the detachable unit for gaining the ease of moving them when necessary. They can be reused for any other project as well.

Sweden is acknowledge for its infrastructure and Trappspecialisterna is a well knowed name with a reputation of stair specialists.
