Copywriting is written content conveyed through online media and print materials. Copy is a content primarily used for the purpose of advertising or marketing. This type of written material is often used to persuade a person or group as well as raise brand awareness. Copywriters (known as continuity writers in broadcasting) are used to help create direct mail pieces, taglines, jingle lyrics, web page content (although if the purpose is not ultimately promotional, its author might prefer to be called a content writer), online ads, e-mail and other Internet content, television or radio commercial scripts, press releases, white papers, catalogs, billboards, brochures, postcards, sales letters, and other marketing communications media pages. In book publishing, flap copy and jacket flap copy are terms for the brief summary of a book which often appears on the inside of the book's hardcover dust jacket; back cover copy is similar, often briefer text placed on the book's outside back cover; catalog copy is another book summary maintained in a publisher's catalog of published books. Copy can also appear in social mediacontent including blog posts, tweets, and social-networking site posts. A brand is the meaning behind your company's name, logo, symbols and slogans. Having a unique and memorable brand helps you build brand awareness and create a long-term position in the marketplace. Brand awareness is a measure of how well your brand is known within its target markets. It is the extent to which a brand is recognized by potential customers, and is correctly associated with a particular product. Expressed usually as a percentage of the target market, brand awareness is the primary goal of advertising in the early months or years of a product's introduction.[1] Brand awareness is related to the functions of brand identities in consumers’ memory and can be reflected by how well the consumers can identify the brand under various conditions.[2] Brand awareness includes brand recognition and brand recall performance. Brand recognition refers to the ability of the consumers to correctly differentiate the brand they previously have been exposed to. This does not necessarily require that the consumers identify the brand name. Instead, it often means that consumers can respond to a certain brand after viewing its visual packaging images.[3] Brand recall refers to the ability of the consumers to correctly generate and retrieve the brand in their memory.[2] A brand name that is well known to the great majority of households is also called a household name. Creating brand awareness is usually the first step in building advertising objectives. Before you can create a favorable impression or motivate customers to buy, they have to become aware of your brand and its meaning. Marketing messages delivered through various media are often used to communicate the brand name and important messages tied to its products. Making people aware that you exist helps drive traffic to your business and create a buzz in the market. The highest level of brand awareness is top of mind awareness. This is when customers think of you first when they need to make a purchase within your product category. You can build top of mind awareness through repeated exposure and consistent delivery of a good product or service over time. This is a huge advantage in the market when customers enter a buying situation and your brand immediately comes to mind first. Providing on-going value to your target market is vital to better brand recognition and becoming the well-respected "go-to" person in your field. Are you offering webinars, teleconferences or classes to your market? One way to help your target market know, like and trust you is to write a blog that informs, entertains and educates. The key to a successful blog is consistency. You develop a loyal following by regularly providing blog posts that offer quality information and ongoing value to your target market.
