Christmas Decorating with Inexpensive Vases, Cake Stands, and Glassware.

I’ve recently discovered hurricane vases and how to DIY them in all shapes, size, and colors. I made several and used them along with other vases I purchased at TJ Maxx for under $5 to decorate my home for the holidays. I also used vases I made from old glassware.

A trip to TJ Maxx and Walmart where I spent under $200 netted me enough supplies to make vases to decorate my entire home. The projects took me only 2 days. It’s amazing what a tube of glue, a couple of cans of spray paint, epsom salts, and some cheap ornaments can do!

A large cylinder vase filled with Epsom Salt for snow is what I used for my polar bear scene.

I used a polar bear figurine I picked up from a dollar store in Arizona last year, and added a sprig of fake evergreen and pine cone from a spray I got last year.

The glittery red lantern I got at Walmart for $1.47. I added the rest of the evergreen sprig I used in the vase.

The gold vase is a re-purposed Spaghetti Factory glass we get whenever we dine there. I painted it with metallic gold spray paint in the fall and used it to hold branches of autumn leaves. I added the bow and a fake Christmas spray of holly and pine branches from Walmart.97 cents.

I thought they all made a nice arrangement on top of the old fashioned radio someone had given us years ago.

This all sits on top of the antique chest in my foyer.

On the other side of the chest I have an arrangement of 2 hurricane vases I made and a cloche stand I had in my pantry.

I placed pine cones in the taller vase which has a mercury look finish candle stick base and silver mini ball ornaments in the matching shorter hurricane vases. Both vases cost me under $20 to make. I tied the trio together with sprigs of glittery holly berries I got on clearance from Pier 1 a couple of years ago.

Plant stand by the front door. I used another cylinder vase filled with Epsom Salt to create this polar bear scene.

Mini ball ornaments fill a small metal sleigh that adorned a gift many years ago. It was gold, I spray painted it red.

The silver vase is an old glass cup we got from Circus Circus in Las Vegas 2 years ago. I spray painted it metallic silver using Krylon Metallic spray paint. I hot glued on a glittered ornament left over from my Mesh Christmas Wreath, dropped in another Christmas spray I got at Walmart for.97 cents and I had another pretty arrangement for my front door.

I have a collection of Santas. I choose to display these three on the corner table in my formal living room.

The silver vase is identical to the one pictured above.

The poinsettia sprays are ones purchased on clearance from Pier 1 several years ago.

Hurricane vases and other small vases are made of vases and glassware I purchase at TJ Maxx or had in my kitchen as are the dessert plates.

Vases and plates are filled with Epsom Salt "snow" ceramic buildings were purchased from Walmart for $1.47 each, bottle brush tree for.75 – 1.00, and figurine set from Home Depot for $7.99. Animated Carousel and Tilt-A-Whirl were also from Home Depot, $99 and $32 respectively.

Don’t forget the kitchen! This arrangement sits on one of my kitchen counters.

The silver vase is one of the glasses we get from Spaghetti Factory, I spray painted it with Krylon Metallic Silver paint.

Mini ornaments fill the hurricane vase which was part of my DIY Hurricane Vase project.

The cloche stand is one I had in my pantry. The Lenox salt & pepper shakers inside were also from my pantry.

I printed out the Christmas Bucket List, taped it onto a piece of foam board and popped it on a wooden tripod.
