WBCS 2018: Notifications, and Syllabus.

The West Bengal Civil Service examination WBCS 2018 is an extensive process that aims to pick able administrators. The system of examination is designed to test applicants for efficiency, power of retention, ability to identify correct alternatives, and mental stability. The entire process is basically a test of endurance – physical, mental and psychological.

Notifications

Among the key notifications regarding West Bengal Civil Service examination WBCS 2018 the one worth noting is the increased age limit for making applications. The upper age limit for entry level jobs in Group A has been raised to 36 from 32. The age limit to appear for the qualifying exam for Group B has been raised to 39 years from 32. Besides there have been several relaxations for those belonging to SC, ST and Other backward classes.

The primary reason why the state government made this move is to fill up vacant seats in the local cadre. Generally the state government is dependent on Central government appointments to fill up certain vacancies. Besides the move will give a wider range of choice to the state government!

Notifications regarding last date for filling up applications, exam dates, application fees etc will be published on the official website. Candidates are encouraged to fill up and submit the form online.

AS far as Admit Cards are concerned, you can download them from the official portal once the due announcement is made. The system asks you for your date of birth and First name to process your information and display your admit card.

WBCS Syllabus

As far as the Preliminary examination is concerned there are certain things that you must work on.

Questions on English Composition generally covers everything from Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, to Vocabulary test, Phrasal Verbs, and same words bearing more than one meaning.

Questions on General Science include practically everything that pertains to appreciation and understanding of science. This can include matters of everyday observation and experience. The logic behind asking such questions is simply to gauge a person’s awareness level. In fact these questions help judge the ability of those who aren’t from a science background but are educated and understand basic concepts.

In History, emphasis will be on broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. Questions on the Geography will focus on Physical, Social and Economic Geography of the country with special reference to West Bengal.

Questions of Indian Polity and Economy will test the knowledge of the country‘s Political System, Panchayati Raj, Community Development and Planning in India, Questions on the Indian National Movement will relate to the nature and character of the Nineteenth Century Resurgence, Growth of Nationalism and Attainment of Independence. General Mental Ability will relate to Logical perception, understanding and natural conclusion.
