Qualifying in the TET Exam and Getting Recruited

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is an important recruitment exam for a teaching job in a State Government School. TET is an initiative of the Government of India aimed at developing and building the standard of teaching. The TET exam is conducted by the relevant State Government. Each Indian State has a different test.

ELIGIBILITY

Teacher Eligibility Test is purely based on National Curriculum Framework and all graduates, B.A, B.Sc., B.Com etc., are eligible to appear for the examination.

All B. Ed. graduates have to mandatorily clear this examination to work as a teacher and a candidate has to score over 60 per cent to clear the test. The exam is divided into 2 papers, Paper 1 for Class 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to 10.

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) preserves the records.

TET Certification

Applicants who secure the required marks are declared qualified in the exam and awarded with a TET Certificate. The State Govt. issues the Certificate and the validity of this certificate can be different for different State level exams.

TET Exam Certificate has all the personal and educational information about the candidate: name, DoB, the registration number of TET exam, year/ month of certification, marks etc. This certificate may be electronically generated with some security features. There is no upper limit on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring TET Certificate.

Eligibility Criteria:

The degree specialised in should match with the post applied for. Usually, a candidate must possess:

  • Bachelor Degree with Minimum 50% Marks.

  • Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) Certificate.
