Just because the snow has melted doesn’t mean that the French Alps, with their dramatic mountain peaks and rivers raging with fresh melt water, don’t still have plenty to offer the adrenalin junkie looking for a hit of high octane adventure.

Check out the summer activities in Morzine and you’ll discover that what goes on here in the summer makes the winter months look tame by comparison.

White Water Rafting

Probably one of the most exhilarating summer activities in Morzine is white water rafting down rivers turbulent with the winter’s melt water. There are a number of companies in the resort who will take you down some of France’s most dramatic waterways on an inflatable raft but, be warned, this is definitely not for the feint-hearted.

Canoeing and Kayaking

Leave canoeing and kayaking on the quiet lakes in the area to the elderly or families with young kids – if you want a real heart-stopping experience, take your canoe out on one of the many raging rivers around Morzine! Just get ready to pit your nerves against the massive rapids and quick waters.

Canyoning

A mixture of extreme nerve and extreme fun is the only way I can describe canyoning. The idea is to work your way down the mountain waterways by throwing yourself into the icy waters of the many mountain pools in the area. The ways into these pools is part of the fun: sometimes you’ll abseil, sometimes you’ll slide down waterfalls and other times you’ll just jump from a cliff face.

Caving and Potholing

If you like exploring in the dark then you’ll love working your way through the system of caves and tunnels which cut their way through the mountains of Morzine. Tell your guide just how extreme you want your caving experience to be and they’ll find the perfect route for you and your friends.

Scuba Diving

Those who thought scuba diving was just for beach holidays will think again when they explore the clear waters of the lakes around Morzine. There are a range of dive companies in the resort who will teach courses from beginner to advanced, or take experienced divers out as guides.

Hydro-Speeding

Imagine riding a bodyboard down a raging river and you’ve pretty much discovered the new alpine sport of hydro-speeding. Practitioners wear wetsuits, helmets and flippers as they ride a large float down the fast-moving waters.

Mountaineering

One of the most popular summer activities in Morzine is mountaineering. Find a guide in the resort to take you up to the highest peaks for a spectacular Alpine climb. If this is your first time there are many companies which will teach safety and climbing techniques, making sure you only attempt ascents appropriate to your level.

Paragliding

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of freedom as you soar off the side of a mountain and into the fresh clean air while the ground disappears beneath you. Morzine has a range of paragliding companies offering tandem flights with an instructor, so all you have to do is relax and enjoy the view.

How to Get To Morzine

Getting out here to enjoy all the summer activities in Morzine couldn’t be easier with regular flights running between the UK and Geneva on a range of budget and premium airlines. Book an airport transfer for you and your mates with Shuttle Direct and a driver will be at the airport when you arrive, waiting to whisk you away to the resort.
