Trying to keep teenagers outdoors, enjoying fresh air and (god forbid) exercise can be a struggle, but with all the action-packed activities on offer in the French Alpine resort of Morzine they’ll be having too much fun to want to stay inside.

There are so many great summer activities in Morzine that no matter what your kids are into, whether thrill-seeking oro geocaching, you’ll find plenty to keep them entertained.

Check out my guide to some of the very best family-friendly summer activities in Morzine.

Canoeing and Kayaking

Whether you choose paddling calmly on Lac Montriond or battling the rapids on some of the faster moving rivers, this is one of the most popular summer activities in Morzine. There are several watersports centres around the town which will supply all the equipment you need.

Cycling and Mountain Biking

Renting road bikes or mountain bikes can be a great way to explore the area with teenage kids. Cycling is big news in France and the roads and drivers are very bicycle-friendly. Those looking for a bit more adrenalin-pumping action could try the various mountain bike trails in the area which start with gentle low level routes and progress up to serious downhill trails. There’s also a bike park for tricks and jumps.

Geocaching

The mountain landscape makes the perfect backdrop for a treasure hunt, which is basically what geocaching is. Download the co-ordinates and see if you and your family can use your phone GPS to track down the hidden location, then add your name to the logbook and put it back for the next person to find. It’s a great way to connect with the area.

Horse riding

If your teens are keen on horses there couldn’t be a more beautiful place to horse ride than the meadows and hillsides around the Portes du Soleil.

Ice Skating

Just because the snow has melted doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a bit of ice skating! The rink in Morzine’s Parc des Dereches has its own café/bar with music, so if you don’t want to get onto the ice you can relax and watch the kids sliding around instead.

Summer Luge

Another sport which makes the transition from winter to summer in Morzine is sledging on the resort’s impressive luge run. Definitely one for adrenaline-seeking teens, the summer sledges follow two courses of various difficulty levels from the top of the Pleney gondola and the top of the Crusaz chairlift.

Aquariaz Water Park

What teen doesn’t love a waterpark? Spend the day at the Aquariaz in Avoriaz and watch your teenagers splash around in the indoor lazy river, the ‘slidewinder’ and the large swimming pool. There are also natural climbing walls at the centre for the kids to have a go on.

Tree-top Adventures And Zipwires

For adventure which takes in the beautiful mountain surroundings, take a family trip to the tree-top park and the Fantasticable zipwire run. Walk wooden bridges and rope trails high up in the treetops of Morzine’s beautiful forests at one of the local tree-top adventure parks. Then head over to Fantasticable for a three kilometre zipline journey through the beautiful Alpine countryside.

How to Get to Morzine

Getting to Morzine couldn’t be easier with regular budget and premium flights running between the UK and Geneva. The easiest way of getting your family from the airport to Morzine is to book a group transfer or private car with Shuttle Direct before you set off.

Lukas Johannes is a driver for Shuttle Direct, the number one provider of shared and private airport transfers all over Europe and northern Africa. If you’re planning a holiday break in Europe, we also offer tips on accommodation and summer activities in Morzine and other resorts. With a range of affordable transfers, Lukas and his colleagues can make sure that you and your luggage get to and from the airport of your choice swiftly and safely.
