Time is the most essential and scarce resource in our economy. Hence, effective utilisation of it is of utmost importance. Some of the very basic ways to make optimum use of time are as follows :

  1. Set time limits - You must ensure, that you set up work targets and also live up to it. Achieving these small targets on time, will enable you to achieve bigger targets. This will also make sure that the time available to you is used at its fullest and in the best possible way.
  2. Give no excuses - When you set up targets for yourself, your priority should be to complete the work, and there should be no excuse given for delay in work. Failure in achieving the target should be treated as a serious shortcoming.
  3. Work hard, play hard - Work should not be made stressful, rather it should be made interesting. The schedule should have substantial time for relaxing as well. Too much of work, all at once, will not give the desired results.
  4. Step by step conceptualisation - Time management's key lies in proper conceptualisation and step by step formulation of a well- planned action strategy. If the plan is improper, the time is bound to be under-utilised. Formulate a doable action-plan.
  5. Make time for what matters - Your daily schedule should consist of the needful hours of sleep, exercise and relaxation, because lack or insufficiency of any of these will lead to inefficient work output will adversely affects the optimum use of time.
  6. Think before you act - Implementing something, making mistakes, reverting your actions and then re-implementing, wastes a lot of time and energy. Thus, it is important that what you do and when, is well thought upon. You might also like to build upon your positivity with meditation.
  7. Alternative plan - Turning of tables is possible at any phase of entrepreneurship, hence it is advisable to always be ready with an alternative plan so as to minimise losses. It is commonly known to fail fast, learn and improve. Failures should be accepted as learning experiences.
  8. Multitasking reduces efficiency - Multitasking, though sounds great, is not a productive method to accomplish tasks. You should rather focus on planning and completing tasks consecutively. The plan should be as per the convenience and relationship of the tasks. Grouping of similar tasks makes ideas flow swiftly.
  9. Prioritize - The smartness of the entrepreneur is judged by the way he prioritises and manages the numerous tasks he handles. It'll be of great value if you what to do when. Wasting time for an unimportant task and then hurrying up with the important ones is just not the right thing to do.
  10. Sweet pot - 40 hours per week is the ideal time you should devote to work. Anything over and above this time schedule becomes stressful and also reduces the efficiency. Whatever time you set aside for work, should be utilised with full attention and focus. The number of hours doesn't matter as much as the quality of work does.
  11. Check the output, evaluate - To keep evaluating the results of the tasks accomplished in the past is also very necessary. This will help you improve or change your strategies as per the results achieved. The output is the actual way to judge someone's capabilities.
