Best Nail Care Tips For This Winter!

It's time to change your skin and hair products so as to safeguard them from cold and dry winds. But, have you any plans for your nail as well? Are you thinking of giving special care to your nail, this cold weather?

Nails are element of the integumentary system (skin) of your body and develop from the outer skin layer called the epidermis. Nails are formed by the same cells as that in your skin, so they also suffer from dry, cold weather.

Anyway, here are some of the best nail care tips that you can put into practice this December:

1.Moisturize!

After the shower, moisturize your body as well as nails. Apply moisturizer on your nails, cuticles and fingertips behind the nails. Also, moisturize your nails after washing your hands. For better results, choose a moisturizer with urea, lactic acid or phospholipids. To remember that you have to moisturize your body, hands and nails, keep the moisturizer at different areas like bedroom, workplace, kitchen sink, purse, etc.

2.Soak Nails in Warm water!

Make sure to soak your nails once a week in warm water for at most 10 minutes. After this, apply Cuticle oil, Vaseline or Olive oil on your nails. Wear a pair of cotton gloves for around one hour to give adequate time to your nail for soaking up the oil.

3.Use lip balm on cuticles when outside!

Dry cuticles are easy to peel off and split down. To avoid this situation, apply lip balm around your cuticles.

4.Wear gloves when outdoors!

This is because the dry cold wind can take away the moisture from your nails.

5.Invest in right nail polish remover!

Look for the nail polish remover that does not dry your nails, i.e., the one that does not contain acetone. Also, use the nail remover only once a week.

6. Be Nice to your Nails!

Always remember that nails are jewels, not tools. Do not bite or peel them. Do not damage them.

7.Remain hydrated!

Body hydration is necessary both during the summer as well as the winter months. To enjoy beautiful nails, drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.

8.Allow your nails to breathe!

Avoid wearing nail polish all the time! This is because the chemicals can weaken your nails. It is better to take a break with nail polish & allow your nails to breathe.

9.Prefer short nails!

It is true that everyone has the desire of longer nails, but it is always good to have short nails since the longer nails are easy to break when compared to short nails.

10.File your nails in one direction only!

Avoid filing your nails from both directions since this results in the breaking of your nails. Always file your nail in a particular direction. Also, do not file nails after washing your hands or taking a shower since the wet nails are weaker and easier to break.

11.Wear gloves for household chores!

Do not allow your nails to get dry and damaged by soaps, detergents and other household chemicals. Use rubber gloves while washing dishes, or doing any cleaning task.

12.Have a proper diet!

Take food items rich in protein (meat, lentils, eggs, beans), and Vitamin B- biotin (salmon, egg yolks, pork, avocado) so as to make your nails stronger.
