According to Wikipedia - Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, nails, hair and its diseases. It is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspect dermatologist treatsdiseases, in the widest sense, and some cosmetic problems of the skin, scalp, hair, and nails. But it is the The New Zealand Dermatological Society Incorporated's definition which is considered the most comprehensive, given below in inverted commas and block letters.

"Dermatology involves but is not limited to study, research, and diagnosis of normal and disorders, diseases, cancers, cosmetic and ageing conditions of the skin, fat, hair, nails and oral and genital membranes, and the management of these by different investigations and therapies, including but not limited to Dermatohistopathology, topical and systemic medications, dermatologic surgery and dermatologic cosmetic surgery, immunotherapy, phototherapy, laser therapy, radiotherapy and photodynamic therapy."

Dermitology is a specialized branch of medicine and can be persuaded just as any other medical degree MBBS followed by MD and then internship. Various branches are:

Dermipathology - A dermi pathologist is both a dermatologist and a pathologist in which the pathologist assists the dermatologist.

Immunodermatology - This field specializes in the treatment of immune-mediated skin diseases.

Mohs surgery - Developed in the 1930s by Dr Fredric E. Mohs This technique requires the integration of the same doctor in two different capacities: surgeon as well as pathologist. In case either of the two responsibilities is assigned to another doctor or qualified health care professional, it will not be considered to be Mohs surgery.

Pediatric dermatology - In order to qualify for this post Physicians have to complete both a pediatric residential course and a dermatology residential course it deals with neonates and hereditary skin diseases called genodermatoses together with these diseases they have to face the difficulty of treating babies and kids and the emotional turmoil faced by all the patient, the parent and the doctor himself.

Teledermatology- Deals with options to view skin conditions over a large distance to provide expert or second opinionand if the disease is not very serious then provide on line treatment, while serious conditions requiring immediate care are given priority for appointments.

Dermatoepidemiology is the study of skin diseases that affect a whole section of the population Here too l where opinion is provided on line and if the ailment is not serious then it is treated also online but otherwise appointments are taken for further checkups.

But dermatology these days is becoming more popular as a cosmetic branch of medicine and is treating hair and skin problems with the help of laser technology. There are dermatologists for cosmetic treatment in hospitals as well as they have their own private clinics which are doing roaring business.
