It’s that time of year that our feet come out of hibernation as we slip on those sandals for the summer season. But, with that comes a bit of maintenance. Of course if you live in a warmer climate you have this maintenance year round. Lucky for me, I only have about 6 months of toe exposure.

I love a great pedicure. There is nothing as luxurious as dipping your toes into the swirling water while reading the latest trashy magazines lying around the salon. That being said, I can only indulge in one about once a month.

As I received my latest pedi, the nail tech asked me how long it had been since my last one. I dutifully replied it had been about a month. Really? "But you don’t have callouses and your feet look great." Right then I new that my simple rituals needed to be shared. So, here are my super simple tips to keeping those feet looking fabulous.

  1. Once a week I dry file my heels and toes. I usually do this before bed or before jumping into the shower. I use a pumice stone or course emory board and gently rub off the dead skin so that it doesn’t become calloused. It takes only a few minutes and the results are totally worth it.
  2. Use lotion on your feet every day. Yes, I mean every day. You don’t need any fancy foot lotion. The body cream for your legs works just fine. But, you must do this daily. Make sure you use the lotion on your heels and toes to keep the skin soft.
  3. Apply clear top coat weekly. Again, it only takes mere minutes but it keeps the toe polish from chipping. Once that happens, you have to either touch up the polish or have a complete polish change. This small step usually keeps my polish looking fresh for weeks.

That’s it. You can have great looking toes at all times with just minutes a day.
