The Scope of investment casting industry in India

A healthy working casting industry is essential for the growth of the industrial sector in a country. The casting industry is the supplier of the most integral parts which are used in the big machines operating in manufacturing products.

Investment casting is a particular method which Investment castings manufacturers from India use to produce certain intricate or delicate metal casting. It is a really old technique used by almost all industries. This method guarantees accuracy and finesse in the products that are created out of metals or alloys.

Why choose investment casting?

There are other methods such as sand casting or die casting, but investment casting is superior to them. It is also slightly more expensive than the other two, especially the modern approach of foam casting. However, as the industry gets bulk orders, the manufacturers are able to offer low costs for products made using such method.

Moreover, sand casting or die casting simply can't equal investment casting because of its inefficiency to guarantee fine and intricate metallic shapes. In modern machines, a lot of really fine and detailed parts are required, like the tiniest of valves or gears. Such intricate metallic parts can only be made through investment casting and not the other methods. The other methods thus have a huge shortcoming when it comes to finesse, even though they guarantee more enduring power. But investment casting when done properly using the right metals, is equally capable of guaranteeing durability and resistance.

What is the process?

Let us take a brief look at the process of investment casting to understand it better.

First, the manufacturer has to create the pattern or the mould which is the main reason the metallic creations are so intricate. So the mould has to be designed very carefully carving in even the smallest of parts. Once the mould is made, the process moves to the melting of the metal. Unlike in forging, the metal is melted in this process. Then it is poured into the mould, and taken out when cooled. But between making the mould and pouring, there are some steps known as investment and dewax which make this process unique from other methods of casting. The moulds are most meticulously prepared, to ensure that the smallest of details are accommodated.

Scope:

Even though the growth of the industry is sluggish at times, the scopes are excellent. The aviation industry is in a high growth like never before and there is much private manufacturing. Aerospace technology sources a lot of its parts from the industry.

65% of the products produced in investment casting go to the industrial sector of the country. Starting from general components to valves, pumps, and power generator unit parts, the industrial sector is dependent on it. Major automobile brands depend on it for gears, levers, engine parts, to name a few.

Investment castings India is a sector with huge potential and scope. Machines cannot operate without it. The best investment casting manufacturers produce the best parts that are durable and detailed.
