The new trend which is fast catching up now is of aggregators which bring the entire ecosystem at one place. Today, there is an overload of information regarding any action a consumer wants to take and very less time; and that is where aggregators play the biggest role. Earlier, users had to go individually to each food store and taste the food but now they have Zomato to see which restaurant is the best to eat. If someone is looking to buy a movie ticket, rather than going to each and every theatre to check for a ticket, one can now check it on BookMyShow.

"People may have a number of reasons for joining a shared workspace and they may put labels on tangible needs like the need for meeting space, the need for a professional environment, the need for a productive work environment free of kids and laundry, but the underlying need is likely to be around people. We like to say "They come for the space and stay for the people." As shared workspaces proliferate, community will be your sustainable competitive advantage and your retention tool." -Keith Warner

Before we get deep into breaking down the meaning behind Mr Warner’s statement,, lets clarify the meaning of certain terms, so according to Wikipedia, Aggregator refers to a web site or computer software that aggregates a specific type of information from multiple online sources: Poll aggregator, a website that aggregates polling data for upcoming elections. Review aggregator, a website that aggregates reviews of movies or other products or services.

Co working refers to style of work that involves a shared working environment, often an office, and independent activity.

So basically aggregator collects, arranges, analysis data on a particular topic through various sources and then this information is used for the purpose for which it was created.

Aggregators previously only provided back-end services and now they are moving into the front-end space. They are connecting directly with customers either with their own product, or via their own channel with the intent to build their own brand and a larger share of the value chain.

The essence of aggregators is that at the basic level they show information under one roof, any feature they implement instantly can disrupt an entire market.

Challenges:

  1. One of the issues plaguing all aggregator sites in the online space is that very few merchant portals have a good updated feed coming in to fill database
  2. Secondly, Indian aggregators may need to open purse strings and invest in technology to better search results. Till this happens, the search quality will be nowhere close to the Google experience; all of us are so familiar with.

Review aggregators

A review aggregator is a system that collects reviews of products and services (such as films, books, video games, software, hardware and cars). This system stores the reviews and uses them for purposes such as supporting a website where users can view the reviews, selling information to third parties about consumer tendencies, and creating databases for companies to learn about their actual and potential customers. The system enables users to easily compare many different reviews of the same work.

The roles of aggregators are increasingly becoming important be it ordering food, booking airline or movie tickets or even booking shared offices and conference rooms
