WWE Battleground is set to take place on July 23, 2017, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This pay-per-view (PPV) event is produced by WWE for the SmackDown brand and will be the fifth event under the Battleground chronology. The fixtures are already out and it will be interesting to see if the event be able to attract WWE fans across the world or not. The card will include the matches resulting from previous SmackDown storylines. Jinder Mahal will face Randy Orton to defend his WWE Champion title while Style will fight with Owens for the WWE United States Championship. Here is the list of the matches that are set to take place in Battlegroud -

  1. Jinder Mahal vs Randy Orton – At WWE Money in the Bank, Mahal's faithful cohorts, The Singh Brothers, not only cost Orton his chance to regain the WWE title, but also attacked his father. SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon gave a chance to The Viper by a special match stipulation. Jinder Mahal declared that he would give Orton a taste of his homeland by resurrecting the infamous Punjabi Prison match.
  2. John Cena vs Rusev – John Cena will defend America's honor when he goes to war against Rusev in a Flag match on Sunday, July 23. Cena made his return on Independence Day, however he was interrupted by Rusev, who suddenly barged into the mix to insult the USA in front of one of the most vigilant WWE patriots and the WWE Universe. A Flag match was then officially declared for the Battleground.
  3. The Uso vs The New Day – The New Day are getting a brand-spanking new opportunity to capture The Usos' SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WWE Battleground on July 23.
  4. Charlotte vs Lynch vs Natalya vs Tamina vs Lana – In the Five-Way Elimination No.1 Contender's match Chorlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Tamina and Lana will fight to go into SummerSlam to challenge Naomi in the first ever SmackDown Women's Title match in SummerSlam history.
  5. Nakamura vs Baron Cobin – With months of bad blood and Corbin's blatant disregard for his opponent, the two superstars finally have an opportunity to settle their differences.
  6. AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens – This is the first time that Owens and Styles will fight for the United States Championship on pay-per-view. Being the two best professional wrestlers in the world right now, they are expected to put on a tremendous match at Battleground.
