Why are  Andy Warhol soup can paintings considered great?

At the time when Andy Warhol started with painting, his art reflect with the culture of 1960s. These were the years that American consumers had brand awareness, designs etc. For instance, the ad that were being advertised were becoming more sophisticated and appealing to the consumers eyes. And, Warhol got hold of the culture of mass consumption making his work iconic.

During this time, many advertisers only repeats name into public consciousness and that's when he realized in an artistic context about the cans.

He is the father of the modern meme as artistic expression. His can work are significantly artistic as they entrenched Pop art. At that time, he used information as art which was unheard of by most people.

He used ordinary things into his work of art by not spelling out the meaning of it. He allows viewer to have their own opinion towards his art, it was so open that his art was viewed in so many ways.

He was so captivated by Campbell's soup cans that he experimented his artistic skills with layouts and variations. He knew there was no better picture that could be crafted than Campbell's soup label. He knew that he could make the image fine art to present it into fine art.

He was the master in identifying memes and understood visual art like no other artist. Being in a rich country like America, he notice that everyone at the same kind of food. It was Campbell's soup that united the people of America. He also said that for 20 years he only ate Campbell's soup and its the best American product.

The soup can painting is pretty much the same, but they have their own unique presentation. There are 33 different flavours of soup and represent 32 varieties which displayed what is found on the shelves of the stores. He wanted to create awareness of the expectations consumers have that the soups will taste the same because of its brand.

The main purpose of a design work on a product is to draw the consumers attention, but these painting are have attracted eyes to the design. He was so much inspired by Campbell that adopted Campbell's soup branding as his own.

The soup can painting are hand painted, with stamping process that are detailed at the bottom of the can. This is a signature work of the artist and a landmark in MoMA's collection. This work of art marks the breakthrough for him.

When Andy was young, he was ill and bedridden. During this time, his mother gave him drawing lessons which became his childhood pastime. He would also look at magazines pictures and these images are seen by him in a different view which is why his work is iconic.
