Last month, Panchal had even put up a post on social media seeking financial help for his cancer treatment.

"Brothers, please help me, I have cancer, your artiste, Sitaram Panchal," he had written.

Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) then came forward to help the actor.

He was discharged from the hospital last month.

"Slumdog Millionaire" writer Simon Beaufoy is set to adapt Michael Ondaatje's immigrant- themed 1987 novel "In the Skin of a Lion" for big screen.

The story, to be produced by Serendipity Point films and Potboiler Films, focuses on romance and class conflict, reported Deadline.

Beaufoy's credits include "127 Hours", "The Full Monty", "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen", "Everest" and "Slumdog Millionaire", for which he won an Academy Award for the best adapted screenplay in 2009.

While, Ondaatje is best known for his novel "The English Patient", which was also adapted into film in 1996. The movie adaptation of his book received nine Oscars, including best picture, director and supporting actress for Juliette Binoche.

Actress Freida Pinto ensured the leftover food from the several parties organised over the Oscars weekend did not go waste and was redistributed to over 800 residents.

The 32-year-old actress was part of an initiative by the food technology company Copia, based in San Fransisco, under which the excess food was utilised in an effective manner and provided to the needy.
