Quick natural remedies for skin care emergencies

Got a zit, right before the biggest day, and it just won’t go away?

Don’t worry. There have been plenty before you who’ve suffered the same nightmare.

And this means that this time around, we’re better prepared to prevent any impending skin care disasters.

But First, What You Shouldn’t Do…

Once in a blue moon does a popped zit disappear completely!

Though you might be tempted to pop open that pimple, keep in mind that you’ll only end up with worse results. When you pop a zit or a pimple, the bacterial pus inside oozes out and spreads on your skin, leading to more pimples, and that’s not something you need. Also, if you don’t pop it properly, that leaves a mark behind, thus blemishing your once smooth skin.

For your skin’s sake, keep your pimple-popping need under control.

What You Should Do¬ Use an Ice Cube

Start off by icing the area around the pimple to bring your swelling down. But don’t apply the ice cube directly on your skin. Be gentle and keep a bare minimum of space (place your finger alongside the cube to keep it slightly away) and trace the area around your zit. Do so for 2-3 minutes. That should bring the redness and inflammation down considerably. But don’t expect miraculous results!

  • Apply Some Toothpaste
Toothpaste tends to dry out your skin if you apply it anywhere, and that makes it quite handy in case of pimples. Toothpaste (white toothpaste with sodium lauryl sulfate) does feel irritating at first, but if used sparingly and diluted, works quite effectively. Stay away from gel toothpaste, whitening toothpaste or any toothpaste with colored stripes since the active ingredients added for their effects can have damaging effects on your skin.
  • Swap Your Pillow
Your pillow collects dust, dirt, sweat and grime as well as the oil from your hair. When this buildup comes in contact with your skin, this clogs up your pores and causes blemishes and zits to appear. Throw your pillow cover in the wash and keep changing the cover regularly to avoid the grime transfer.
  • Use Some Honey
Honey is probably one of the best ingredients for skin care (and your health!) according to Cosmetiqo, a trusted online cosmetics database.

Honey has antimicrobial properties and when applied to scratches, burns and zits, utilizes its healing, anti-bacterial properties to make you feel better. Simply dab a bit of honey on your zit, put a spot band-aid on and leave the rest to nature.

  • Stock Up on Anti-Aging Products
Your skin will be in a better state by now. Take special care by using anti-aging products so there’s no breakout later. Use anti aging ingredients that target your skin type like:

  • Alpha-hydroxy acids
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Salicylic acid
  • Tea tree oil
  • Azelaic acid
  • Retinoids

If you’re unsure of how these ingredients help, follow health product reviews on sites such as Cosmetiqo to narrow your search.

Hopefully, with all this information on hand, you’ll be able to keep your zit under wraps and enjoy your day looking as perfect as you always are!
