Window films are typically maintenance free, unlike blinds, curtains or draperies. However, you’d still need to clean your window films occasionally, in order to prevent build-up of dust and dirt. Have pets or kids at home? You’ll have to clean your glass films in Sydney more often than required. Here’s how you can easily clean and maintain your window films.

Cleaning Decorative Films:

Most decorative films come with patterns or textures that needs very less cleaning. Decorative films are usually durable in such a way that small smudges and hand prints might not show up easily. You can simply wipe down the film using gentle soap and a wet cloth to keep them clean.

Even though decorative films are durable, it is usually advised not to use scrubbers for cleaning. Stay away from abrasive cleaners such as bleach, scrubbers or ammonia based cleaners such as Windex to prevent wear and tear. Using the said products will not just damage the film, but also adversely impact its adhesion.

Cleaning Solar Window Film and Tint:

Relative to decorative films, solar window films are more fragile. These glass films in Sydney are designed to give a transparent view while functioning to reduce the heat and block the UV rays emanating from the sun.

Your ability to see through solar films means that most smudges from hand prints or fingerprints can be easily visible. Solar films are scratch resistant, however it is wise to use a soft cloth to clean them. Never use ammonia based window cleaners as they can deteriorate the colour and quality of solar films.

Cleaning Security Window Films:

Security films are clear and colourless. Solar films allow up to 90% of incoming sunlight and do not alter the appearance of the glass, but features added security. Cleaning security films is as easy as cleaning regular glasses. This also means they have to be cleansed regularly like normal glass, as fingerprints, dirt and dust will show off easily.

Ammonia based products should not be used to clean security films as they can damage the adhesive. Use a soft cloth to keep them clean and free from smudges, so that its high grade scratch coating remains intact.

Cleaning Automotive Window Film:

Cleaning of automotive window films is identical to cleaning standard car windows. You can simply wash them like you would normally do with standard car windows that don’t have film. Similar to other types of window films, use a soft cloth and don’t use ammonia based cleaners to keep your car window film neat.

Window films in Sydney can offer you privacy, bring down energy costs and gives you adequate security. To keep them safe and protected from regular wear and tear, make sure you adopt these cleaning tips to keep them in top shape.
