For a website designer, it is important to stay on the top of the technological advances and countless while making it sure that the site should be user-friendly and engage with all the devices. Websites have been there for around decades now, and it is meant to have a meaningful presence for the users. However, there are still tons of websites that make the same mistakes over and over again and lose their potential customers.

Here are website design mistakes that a designer should avoid while designing a website.

Poor Readability:

There is no doubt that a good interface design will grab the users’ attention, but it is not just about design, it is to make users read the text and be able to grasp the information they desire. Avoid using unclear fonts and poor interface. Some websites use the most bizarre font styles and sizes that make reading a pain.

Where’s The Search Box?

A website has a whole lot of information in it, and a search box helps the user to look for the desired product or service. Whether it is a corporate website or merely a blog, a search box is necessary. The visitor might be looking for something that not be there on the homepage of the site. With the search box, chances are, and visitors will get what they want. Website designs that don’t have a search box lie under the poor web designs and have low traffic rate.

Not Using Responsive Design:

More than 80% of the searches are done on mobile devices and having a website that displays properly on those devices is of paramount importance for business. Google penalizes non-responsive sites in mobile searches; this is a major problem for those who generate leads online.

Keep The Content Clear:

Making core information hard to locate is another common web design mistake. The homepage must have links to the other pages, and same must be there in the footer of each page to make it easy for the users to switch pages and look for the required information. Other often viewed content like blogs and product descriptions should also have their sub-menus in the sidebar when a visitor reaches that particular section. A search bar at the top of every page is a very useful for the users to find their desired information.

Keep SEO-Friendly Content:

A website that does not update ranks poorly on the search engines and which is also one of the web design mistakes. Putting on high-quality content is important for SEO and the website to drive traffic. Otherwise, the purpose of your website will become less apparent, and you may lose traffic, or attract people who are not interested in your site's actual purpose.

Test, Test and Retest:

No matter how good the design may be, it is a web designer’s job to test the website and test if the site can be viewed in different environments and is the design layout consistent in all browsers?

Avoid the website design mistakes and make it appear well in the search engines.
