Are you reading this article through your mobile phone? It would not be at all strange, as more and more people are using this type of devices to inform themselves, beyond to communicate. Also, keep in mind that it is becoming stranger to run into someone who does not have a smartphone. In fact, according to a particular research, by 2020, 70% of the world's population will have a mobile. We'll tell you more below.

Global mobile data traffic

According to the report by Cisco Systems, a company dedicated to the manufacture, sale, and maintenance and consulting of telecommunications equipment, in the next 5 years will multiply global mobile data traffic by 8 due to the adoption of smart devices, the increased mobile coverage through 4G networks and the growing demand for content including video.

Smart Mobile Devices and Connections

As expected, smart mobile devices and connections will be the majority in 2020. Specifically, they are supposed to account for 72% of the total, a very striking figure considering that in 2015 was accounted for 35%. Also, it is important to note that 98% of mobile traffic on that date is expected to be generated by this type of device. Smartphones will be the devices that generate the most global mobile data traffic in 2020. In fact, they are estimated to generate 81% of the total, while at the moment they produce 75%.

Increase in mobile phones

The proliferation of smartphone under 7000 with 2gb RAM is growing very fast. In 2020 there will be more people with this type of devices than electricity, running water or cars. Particular mention deserves the mobile video, which will have the highest growth rate of all mobile applications, as the increased demand for better video resolution, higher bandwidth, and processing speed will increase the use of devices connected to 4G networks. Thus, 4G will exceed 2G as the predominant mobile technology in 2018 and 3G by 2020.

We already know how global growth will be regarding mobile phones and global mobile data traffic, but what will happen in our country? According to the report, our country will exceed the world average regarding possession of smartphone under 7000 with 2gb RAM. And it is estimated that 88% of the population (40.8 million users) will have a mobile phone in India in 2020. Connections per capita will also increase, with an average of two connections. Of course, growth will not be as high as in other countries: connections will multiply by 7%.
