Some of the main attraction in the festival includes a ritual called Kodiyettam where the flag is hoisted after which the celebration starts, Kudamatam where a large number of elephants are displayed with traditional decorations and more followed by fireworks and other celebrations. The fireworks and the display of elephants are the main part of the Pooram that attracts the tourists.

Cochin Carnival: The Cochin Carnival is an annual celebration which held every year at the time of New Year. The celebration is mostly held at Fort Kochi which stars at the 31st December by 4 at evening and lasts till the New Year morning. The Cochin carnival is a celebration that was rooted in the 1500-1600 era during the Portuguese colonization. The festival is one of the main attractions of the land which attracts a number of tourists from around the world.
