This post is for the creative mothers and party planners out there. I have been wondering about the themes one could use for planning a miniature garden, so I did some research at various online shops. The reason it has been rolling around in my brain is that I think these options would be perfect decoration ideas for upcoming parties. It is a simple "click and selects" when you are looking online for ideas. Just search the theme categories such as:

  • A Day at the Beach• Birthday• Farmyard• Lakeside• Country Gardens• Let's Go Camping• Pirates• Visit a Carnival• Mother’s Day• Wild West• Ray of Light• Fairies and Gnomes

In your search, you may be surprised to find many wee folk including Mermaids, Trolls, and Pixies. When you are looking for fairy garden ideas with a Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter theme, search online for seasonal categories—this is where you will end up finding miniature accessories fit for a party!

We recently celebrated the birth of our daughter, so I started looking for garden fairies that would perfectly honor our special arrival and appropriately decorate a green space. We live in a neighborhood full of well-wishers and families. When we arrived home from the hospital, we had our stoop decorated with banners, flowers, and care packages. We received a lot of love, but I also wanted to add something that was special just for us. There are few things harder to do with a new baby than gardening, so making a miniature garden within my own home was the ideal project - in between naps and feedings.

I started by selecting a large pink ceramic planter and painted "It’s a girl" along the front of it. I added some miniature plants to create the image of my own home surrounded by trees. Then I started adding objects such as a fairy house and three garden fairies that symbolized my growing family. Next, I searched the theme categories for ‘Birthday’ and ‘Mother’s Day’ so I could select items that would show us celebrating due to our newest bundle of joy. I added the Balloon Bouquet, with four different colored balloons sticking out of the ground. I also selected First Steps, which shows a mother fairy and her child attempting their very first steps. There also were representations of my sisters who recently had children and were at our party spending time with their new niece.

You can find so many awesome selections to create your garden that is full of celebration and love. That is why I appreciate creating and designing miniature gardens, which mean something special to each of us.
