When you are a female working or living in the metropolitans in India, you have to be doubly cautious about your security. The brutal but honest fact about this country is that you cannot take your safety for granted; you have to be vigilant at all times and watch out the signals for any danger lurking around you. Just a little presence of mind can go a long way in saving your life whether you are a male or a female. Regardless of your location in any corner of the world, a few clues to be on the safer side will come in handy.

While traveling in a cab, you may feel safe that the driver is registered with a reputed company, so he or she will not harm you. However, the fact is that some drivers resort to corrupt practices just to fulfill their malicious motives. You just need to activate your brain and trust your intuition when something is wrong. Try to implement any of these tips so that you can be safe and reach your destination without dreading the person driving your car.

Share the details

The most obvious thing to do when you sit in a cab is to share the details of your cab with at least one person you can trust; this should be the person who can take an active decision if something goes wrong. You can forward the screenshot of the cab details along with the phone number of the driver to your father, mother, boyfriend, husband, friend, or colleague. Someone in the world should be aware of your whereabouts, no matter what age you are. Some people think they might make someone too clingy by sharing everything. However, it is immature not to share the details just because of the feeling of anxiety or insecurity in mind. The most important thing is that your loved ones should not be left waiting for you forever.

Be loud

It is inherent with most females in India to be gentle and muted even when they feel that something is not right. The driver, for instance, may turn up the music in the car, may not follow the map, or take a dark road. These signals are more than enough for you to understand that something is not right. Just be very stern with the driver and ask him to turn down the music, follow the map, and take a well-lit road. Moreover, call someone immediately and let him or her know where you are. If you cannot call someone, fake a call to your parent and be loud while saying that you are on your way he can pick you up at a certain point. Use your brain and act quickly. Be sufficiently loud on your fake call so that the driver can clearly hear you sharing all the details.

Most drivers react to such acts of the passengers, and they understand they cannot fool the person in the car. Since you are not traveling in the Car rentals, you cannot drive and follow the map, but you can force the driver to do so. As soon as you reach a busy public place, ask the driver to pull over and get off the cab. However, even after several attempts the driver doesn’t budge from his activities, call up the police without hesitation. Share the details on call immediately and be prepared to fight the driver physically if the need arrives. Just a little boldness on your part is enough to scare the driver, and he will have to drop you safely. Even if you are not as physically strong as men, the boldness in your mind can startle even the nastiest drivers.
