Parental involvement has a positive effect on the children’s success. Children are more likely to be well behaved, they tend to do better in school, and have a positive attitude towards life.

So what's the best way to stay involved in your child's school activities?

Try some of the tips given below:

Attend School Events

As parents, it’s very important that you attend school competitions, cultural events, sports events, school exhibitions, prize distribution programs etc so that your child feels loved and cared.

If your child is a part of any school event like a dance competition - make sure you cheer him up while he is performing on the stage. Likewise, you can also make his other friends feel special, while they perform. By doing this, you will be able to create a special bond with your kids and other students.

Participate in Parents Meeting

A parent meeting is a great opportunity to connect with teachers and other parents and students. It lets you familiarize with the teachers teaching style and classroom, and allows you to know what the school expects from your child in the coming year.

Open houses leave little time for one-on-one conversations, so if your child has special learning needs, schedule additional meetings with teachers or the school headmaster to set up an individualized education plan for your child.

These days many CBSE schools in Gujarat are introducing PTA programs to engage more parents in student success and school improvements. With an aim to fulfill the needs of today’s talented children - the school strives to create stronger family-school connections in the growing community.

Volunteer in School

Some schools have volunteer programs where parents are allowed to directly participate in school activities. There are various opportunities where you can help the school. For Example: Helping in the school library, canteen, helping the school administrators by preparing grant proposals, letter-writing campaigns, or press releases, creating materials for various school events like sports, preparing snacks for school picnics etc.

To be a volunteer in school you don’t need any particular experience or qualification – schools tend to welcome enthusiastic parents who want to help improve the learning outcomes for all students and help the school grow.

Many top schools in Gujarat and in Mumbai are making special efforts to increase communication with parents to encourage them to volunteer in school activities. Furthermore, volunteering not only benefits your kids but helps the entire community build a positive attitude.

Participating in child’s school activities is fun. Even if you haven't been involved in the past, it's never too late to start now. It not only benefits the school but also motivates and boosts your child’s inner confidence.
