Not everyone is aware of the tactics which they can apply to keep their boiler maintained without any external help. By conducting regular checkups, one can minimize the operating and energy costs and can enhance the boiler’s life. You will also be making your home safe for your family by keeping a regular eye on your boiler.

Never wait for an entire year to go and check your boiler. The better option is to perform the checks within a month or periodically so that your boiler keeps performing efficiently. Here is a list of the things which you must be doing to keep your boiler in a perfectly fine condition:

  1. First of all, you need to make sure that there is nothing around your boiler which can cause obtrusion or any kind of hindrance. All excess materials should be removed from its surroundings.
  2. Check under the boiler and even around it for leaking water after every two days. If there is any you need to call the boiler repair services immediately.
  3. Keep an eye on the temperature and pressure readings to make sure that they are right within the range.
  4. If the display panel is showing any error codes, jot them down instantly and show them to the service provider to find out if something is wrong with the boiler.
  5. The vent termination of the boiler should never be blocked because of ice, snow, or debris. This will initially slow down the efficiency of the boiler and if ignored for a very long period of time, it can result in a disastrous situation.
  6. The combustion air opening should also be inspected for any possible blockages.
  7. Keep your ears open for any peculiar vibrations or noises coming from the equipment because this is a sign that your boiler instantly needs a checkup.
  8. You must examine the boiler relief valve and the valve discharge pipe for any sign of weeping or leakage.
  9. It is important to observe even the flame of the boiler. If it looks different than its usual shape, it is about time to take some kind of corrective action.
  10. The hydronic piping of the boiler should be examined visually to ensure that there are no leaks.
  11. Schedule a low water cutoff so that it can be tested to see if it’s working well or not. This is done to make sure that the water levels inside the boiler do not fall below the recommended levels given by the manufacturer.
  12. The boiler connections and wiring should be intact.
  13. The water pH levels should lie within the proper range.
  14. Investigate the drain trap, drain line, drain system, and PVC settings to check for any possible blockages and to see if the system is condensing the boiler.

By performing these checks regularly on your boiler, you will be giving it a longer life and will not be spending money unnecessarily on boiler repair services.
