We all work hard in school in order to get good grades when we graduate and the good grades in turn, help us in our bid to get the best jobs so that we may be able to establish a great career for ourselves and finally be rich beyond our wildest dreams. At least, that’s how it was in the old days before the internet and smart phones came into being.

If you are one of those who think working is all about making money and becoming rich, you may want to change the way you think. Sure, the best jobs pay well but have you ever thought of how it would feel like if you just constantly work yourself to the ground and forget what really matters? You may have more than enough stashed away for a rainy day but did you remember to have a life at the same time you were putting it all away?

In the advent of the internet, the way we live our lives have become easier but the pace has also become faster, sometimes too fast for some to be able to keep up. Those lucky enough to have the drive, skills and energy to apply for the best jobs may have had it good and reached their life goals in no time but wonder why they still feel unsatisfied and restless considering they have enough stashed away to travel, buy a big house and buy that Audi they’ve always wanted.

Here’s why: because in our heart of hearts, we know that we have achieved only part of our dreams but not what’s really important. Sure, we have a job that will keep us and feed us but is it really what we want to do? Is it something that gives us fulfillment, a sense of satisfaction and content that comes from knowing that we are in the right place? If you had to think of an answer to those questions, chances are you are not. Working in jobs you aren’t really happy about may end up leaving you frustrated, burnt out, anxious and even depressed. The toll it will take both on your physical and mental health will certainly affect the way you work and you may fail to perform up to par and end up leaving anyway. This is one reason why it is best to always look for jobs you think is best for you and not what society thinks is best for you.

The first thing to do is tap into your network. Within it may be at least two or three jobs that are good for you but no one has thought to offer them to you yet. Identify the most influential people in your network and meet them for coffee or touch base with them to strengthen your ties with them. You can also reconnect with your old school buddies to increase the people in your network. You can also connect with new people at charity events and organizations and without imposing, you can find an excuse to do a follow-up meeting with them. It’s all about making ties that bind after all.

And lastly, you can also use online recruitment agencies. It is recommended that you use specialist recruitment agencies in particular because the people who comprise these agencies are not only well-versed in your industry, they will also be partnered with the top companies and as such, will be able to match you up with the job that fits your skills and experiences to a T. At markssattin.com.au for example, which specializes in corporate and retail banking jobs, they can help you find the best banking jobs not only because they are in demand at the moment but also because you fit the company’s needs and requirements. Finding the right career for you will not only help you grow as a person, it will also ensure that you happily find the career you were meant to have.
