Gearbox is important equipment in a gear assembly. It is used for transferring energy from one device to the other. Also known as gear heads and speed reducers, gearboxes are used for both reducing and enhancing speeds. They are used in different mechanical operations such as cars, trucks and windmills. Gearboxes work by increasing the torque which generated power by twisting ad bending the material. They are located in the power shaft and every gear present in them has a specific purpose which helps in the operation of different vehicles. Gearboxes are available in different types; some of them are listed below:

Manual gearboxes

These gearboxes work when the clutch is pressed down. They allow the gearshift to be used at the required gear. Manual gearboxes have five to six gears in their boxes. As soon as the gear in the gearbox is shifted to a higher gear, the gearbox provides the vehicle with loads of power without using less fuel. This is easily done by the gearboxes as they rotate the drive shaft by alternating the torque and power. When the gear is shifted into the lower gear, the vehicle starts running at a lower speed. Gears present in these boxes keep on changing the drive shaft at different points along their use.

Automatic gearboxes

Automatic gearboxes work in coordination with the accelerator, brakes and the drive shaft. The transmission of power in automatic gearboxes is more expensive and difficult to maintain and replace. These gearboxes use programmed gear ratio and spin the drive shaft according to the power generated from the accelerator. When brake is applied, the gearbox decreases the speed of the vehicle by using counterweights which slow down the drive shaft.

Direct-Shift Gearboxes

These gearboxes are new types of gearboxes which are known to provide characteristics of both manual and automatic gearboxes. They include two clutches and some main components which are very similar to that of manual gearboxes. One clutch is used for connecting the engine to the gearbox and the second one is used for pre-selecting the next gear. Direct-shift gearboxes, thus, help in creating a seamless transition between the gears. They are considered unique among the different gearboxes as they can be operated both manually and automatically. This makes these gearboxes versatile for the users.

So, these are the different types of Gear Boxes, available in the market. You can buy superior quality Gearboxes from reliable Manufacturers and Suppliers.
