Residents of the greater Toronto area are used to severe weather conditions during all seasons of the year. Last June, we had a reminder to the brute force of Mother Nature when a tornado hit a near-by community and tore homes to pieces.

The above mentioned catastrophe followed one of the more challenging winters that residents of Toronto, Mississauga and other GTA cities experienced in the last years. One of the challenges was the large amount of snow that covered the area for many long days. This last winter set a record when the snow covered the ground for 101 consecutive days and caused hardship to commuters as well as to home owners who suffered from the consequences of accumulated mass of snow and ice on their homes.

Even on an average year, Toronto is covered with snow about 65 days which means that houses in Toronto, Mississauga and other GTA cities are covered as well.

Last winter, some residents of the GTA even suffered from frozen water that caused pipes to burst and led to water leaks that disrupted lives and damaged these properties. Other residents saw ice accumulating on their roof which is a major cause for water leaks that can weaken the house’s structure.

The importance of Eavestrough in Toronto and Mississauga is clear once one considers the great amounts of precipitation that we have in our region all around the year and the consequences of not being able to remove water efficiently from the top of the house.

Since snow usually start falling in December, now is a good time to learn how to prepare the house for that challenge. Note that the way you deal with the fall season will determine to great degree how well your home will be prepared to deal with winter’s challenges.

Fall is known to be the most beautiful season in Toronto, Mississauga and other cities of the GTA. Every tourist who ever visited the area will probably agree to that statement as would many of the region’s residents. Part of what makes the area so beautiful during the fall is the colors of the leaves on the many trees, many of them located around residential areas. The problem is that as winter comes, leaves fall from the trees, some carried with the winds and find their way to many residents home’s eavestrough pipes. Those home owner who are unaware of how important it is to have clean eavestrough in Toronto, Mississauga and the GTA, may suffer from clogged eavestroughs and ice dams formation on their roof.

The rise of Toronto’s housing market during the last few years caused homeowners to become more aware of the need to preserve their home in order to protect its potential sale value. What many home owners seem to forget is how easy it is to maintain and keep their home in good shape comparing to the hardship of fixing structural damage caused by negligence. Maintaining your Eavestrough in both cities is among the easiest things that you can do in order to prevent expensive damage in the future. Simple actions like cleaning; it can ensure proper functioning and reduce the chance for ice dam formation. If climbing on roofs is not your thing, we can recommend that you do some research and find a good company that can help you prepare for the winter. The main things to look for are number of years in the business, workers experience and training and proper insurance.
