It’s been a few months since the Fall 2014 shows wrapped. Since summer is on its way out (I know, I’m sorry, too) and fall/winter collections have already started shipping to stores, let’s take this opportunity to revisit the major trends.

Clothing

Shift and A-line dresses are flattering to all body types, thanks to their forgiving flares.

The louche, slouchy-leg trouser is the pant of the season. Katharine Hepburn would be right at home in these flowing and luxuriously elegant slacks.

Whether worn head to toe, thinly ribbed or oversized and chunky, knits are it for fall.

Outerwear

Robe coats were presented in all lengths, colors and textures, ensuring there’s at least one version for every style personality out there. Worn just slightly oversized, the coat draws in at the waist for soft definition and a cool, laid-back attitude.

The fur chubby is one of the most look-at-me trends of fall. The vibe is decadent yet cozy, and the piece looks right at home with leather leggings, satiny evening gowns or thin knits, as seen on Marc Jacobs’ runway.

Accessories

Think big and bold for earrings this season. The statement earring is way more eye-catching than necklaces, bracelets and rings and can uplift any ensemble in seconds flat.

Knee-high boots hit the season right on the head when paired with shift dresses and mod mini skirts.

Generously sized clutches are chic and multifunctional. Toss them inside your work bag for day, carry alone for happy hour and beyond.

Beauty

Lush lashes are the perfect complement to the ’60s and ’70s fashion trends of the season. Think Twiggy, but softer. No crunchy spider lashes, please.

Berry lips, as seen at Carolina Herrera, are just as much of a statement as classic red, but a bit more feminine and romantic.

Speaking of the ’60s, hair gets a mod nod with deep parts, teased crowns and sex-kitten bangs. Two words sum up the look: Brigitte Bardot.

Nail art isn’t as in-your-face as it once was. This season, it’s all about interesting color combos and techniques that fly just a bit under the radar. A half-moon manicure in nude and oxblood or a thin, golden pin stripe down a nude nail are uber cool takes on the trend.
