One of the earliest civilizations in the world, India is known for its rich culture and history. Over the years India has witnessed the emergence and rule of many religions on its vast land. This is why it has become the central attraction of pilgrimage sites of almost all religions in the world. The presence of numerous historically significant temples makes temple tourism very popular in India.

As India is dominated by a majority of Hindu population, many Hindu temples can be found in every city of India. But one of the most historically and sacredly famous Hindu temples of India are:–

Badrinath Temple – Located in Uttrakhand, this holy temple is one of the most prominent temples in India as it is a part of the four most holy sites in Hinduism called the Char Dhaam. The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu.

Vaishno Devi Temple – Situated in Jammu and Kashmir, it is a cave temple dedicated to goddess Vaishno Devi present in the form of three rock heads. Due to the string faith among people, this place is filled with millions of visitors every year.

Siddhivinayak Temple – Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, this temple is dedicated to lord Ganesha. This temple consists one of the 8 images of god Ganesha.

Tirupati Balaji – Situated in Andhra Pradesh the temple is dedicated to lord Balaji, an incarnation of lord Vishnu. It is the second richest temple in the world with people offering gold and money to their lord which breaks parameter of a million each day.

Sikh Temples –

The Golden Temple – It is the most pious temple for Sikhs. Situated in Amritsar, Punjab, this temple is built by gold and is famous for its magnificent architecture.

Muslim Pilgrim Places –

Ajmer Sharif – Located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, the shrine is dedicated to Khwaja-Moinuddin-Chisti. It is one of the most revered religious places in India where Hindus and Muslims both flock in all round the year.

Jama Masjid – This majestic mosque stands in Delhi, and is a true example of Persian and Hindu style of architecture. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah-Jahan and is a matter of pride for the national capital.

Buddh Temples –

Sanchi Stupa – Built by the great emperor Ashoka, this holy place is located in Madhya Pradesh.

Mahabodhi Temple – The temple located in Bodhgaya is the most sacred site in Buddhism and it is believed that Lord Buddha attained enlightment at this place. It consists of the relics of Buddha.

There is no other country as secular as India. Religions merge together on this land. Temples of every religion can be found and this makes temple tourism in India, so profitable.
