Located in the stunning eastern part of France, there are few better places to get your wintertime ski fix than by heading to Morzine. Catered chalet accommodation is the best way to enjoy the area; you'll have the independence of coming home after a long day on the slopes knowing that you'll have a home away from home waiting for you.

In Morzine, catered chalet accommodation also has the benefit of being right in the heart of the ski area, and just a short walk from your door you'll have lift access to some of the best skiing in Europe - especially since you're just a short distance away from the Swiss border. The region is situated across a river gorge, and as one of the most visited ski areas in the French Alps, the skiing here is without compare. It is perfect for families and beginners, but if you're interested in other activities besides downhill skiing, there is plenty for you too!

Skiing

If you're a beginner and really want to get to grips with the sport, you can't really beat Morzine. Catered chalet accommodation makes it convenient to get to and from any of the ski schools in the area, then when you're ready, your no more than a few metres to the slopes proper. Many of the pistes in the area are ideal for those who are learning to ski or improve on basic skills. You can take advantage of the nursery slopes in the village and the many easy pistes that lead back into the village from the surrounding slopes.

For intermediate standard skiers, it's also the ideal location. The excellent gondolas will give you access to the whole Avoriaz area (but there is no piste from there back into the town), or you can head to Le Pléney to explore the fantastic slopes there. For advanced skiers, there is less choice but certainly ample to keep you challenged, with several slopes to push your limits.

Other snow activities

If you want to take a day off the slopes and do something a little different, you can certainly something fun and new to try in Morzine. Catered chalet accommodation in the valley makes for the perfect starting point if you want to get out and explore the seventy kilometres of cross-country trails in the area. One of the best (and prettiest) areas to explore is the Vallée de la Manche, which has lovely views and a nice easy trail.

If you’ve never been husky sledding, then now's the time to start! And you are in for a treat. Book an afternoon on a sled with an instructor and get out there and explore the sights from a vantage point not many people can say they've experienced. It's fast and fun!

You can also book helicopter tours to fly you over the valley, as you sit back and take in the gorgeous views and snap away with your camera.
