There are many references to a true leader, but what exactly are the components of genuine leader. Being a genuine leader means far more than merely being a leader or even being an authentic leader. Genuine leadership is a combination of all the needed positive traits and qualities of real or true leader,a sense of authenticity, having the self confidence and ability to expose one’s weaknesses and strengths, caring for the organization mission, the desire to provide value to others, absolute integrity and an ever ending desire to go beyond the ordinary to strive to be extraordinary. Genuine leaders never settle and never run away from an issue when others are afraid or unwilling to address it.

  • Focus on the situation, issues, or behavior, not the person

Focusing on the situation, issue, or behavior helps you remain objective when faced with challenges. You can solve problems more effectively, make better decisions, and maintain constructive relationships when you concentrate on the big picture and consider others’ points of view with an open mind.

  • Try new ways of doing things.

Usually a leader would prefer to repeat his task if it proves successful.But what differentiate a genuine leader is that he will acknowledge the success but at the same time recognize that there are always ways to do thing better.

  • Gain Knowledge.

Most executives believe leadership skills come naturally,true great ideas can come to any of us but being a genuine leader also means study. Try and gain knowledge from books and seminar, discussion with your peers to see what works for them will definitely help you to become a genuine leader.

  • Genuine leadership means leading yourself.

Being a leader is easy but to become a genuine leader one should be able to lead himself or herself as well for the growth and success of their organization. It's important that leaders have the ability to focus and motivate themselves as they motivate others.

  • Finish the job.

A genuine leader who never finishes the job loses the confidence of his clients and customers. To become a genuine leader set your goals and implement them in such a manner that you finish what you started.

  • Anticipate the Future Every action or decision produces consequences. Effective leaders consider how their actions and decisions will impact others and the organizations and avoid actions that bring personal benefit at the expense of others. In other words, they behave ethically. Anticipating the future also helps you prevent minor, manageable problems from turning into organizational crises.

To conclude it can be said that every organization should strive to attract genuine leaders.Although these individuals are rare, when a group is fortunate enough to find one,he should be cherished as a rare treasure.
