Here we will discuss the working of Solar Panel Farms. But before this, we will discuss how the solar energy system is used by the panels on your roof.

The solar energy from the sun goes into the solar panels but the power produced by them goes into the utility grid not to you.

Now you may ask why? The valid reason for this is the time at which the power is produced and the time at which you need that same power. For instance, suppose your panel outputs max at 12 noon, while you are not at your home; your AC, as a result, will not work afterwards because of the lack of sufficient heat.

One solution that comes in mind for this is to store the power in batteries. But with this simple solution comes 2 drawbacks:

  1. Batteries big enough to store this much power costs a lot.
  2. Batteries usually waste a lot of power that makes you to buy even more batteries.

Let us now discuss the working of Solar Farm

What is a solar panel farm? It a large area where many ground mounted solar tracking towers are installed. Now the second question arises that how this power gets from Solar panel farm to your house? The answer is what comes from the topic discussed above, the power not goes to you it will go to utility grid.

The best way to utilize solar energy is to have solar panels installed in the solar farms instead at homes. The reason being:

  1. The solar panels installed on the motorised towers in the solar panel farm can track sunlight throughout the day.
  2. These towers are motorised that allow them to follow the sun for the whole long day.
  3. The arrangement of towers is such that they never come under shade.
  4. Power so produced is collected in the utility grid; this power is then used by the businesses and consumers.

Advantages of Solar Panel Farms

There are many advantages of solar panel farms, some of them are:

  • No use of fossil fuel.
  • Clean Environment.
  • No pollution.
  • Solar panels mounted in the farm prevent making unwanted changes in your home.

If you have your solar panel farm, then you can sell the power so collected to the electric utility. So if you are a producer of electricity by having your own farm, then you can also be a seller of the same electricity. For this case, you need to have two meters.

Your original meter gives you the measure of the electricity used by you. While the second meter measures the power that goes out though this meter.

So the conclusion is: Solar panel farm enables you to become a producer as well as a consumer at the same time.
