Instead Hublot was trying to offer other more standard luxury sport watch wearers something novel

If there was ever serious opportunity for me to produce gonzo journalism in the watch industry it would most certainly be with Hublot, a brand I follow keenly around the world with their antics, watches, fans, and cast of colorful and amusing characters. Say what you will about Hublot - I can't get enough of the brand that has endlessly provided me with entertainment and variety since the big man replica hublot King Power took the helm in 2004. Now in Late 2014, some 10 years later, the brand's minute man du jour is Theirry Guetta's Mr. Brainwash.

Of course, none of this information is easy to gather in the tightly packed Hublot store where only Ricardo knows the answers, and where celebrities and local journalists are vying for his attention. It's an Hublot event only like Hublot can throw. aBlogtoWatch contributor Michael "Max" Maximilien is on the scene with me to help make sense of the situation and experience Miami "Hublot style" - which is what everyone needs to really appreciate the brand in full.

The Hublot Big Bang Mr. Brainwash timepiece caries with it all the aspects of true art on the wrist. This is undeniable, whether you like or hate the brand. What is clear - and speaks to our sensibility as watch lovers - is that watchmaking is often attributed to being art - mechanical art with a purpose and a raison d'etre. Brainwash's art on the wrist exemplifies that meaning for us. Seeing this watch will stir some emotion, guaranteed... At the end of the day, that's the best we can ask of any art work, and Hublot seems to have another winner in its hands. If only they can really create that limited edition version. Something tells us the good folks in Geneva will find a way.

Finally, the first live Olympic photos of super sprinter Usain Bolt wearing his Hublot King Power "Usain Bolt" edition watch! Leave it to me, your resident watch nut, to get caught up in the excitement of such a thing, but hey, this is what I live for here at Perpetuelle. Now, unlike Yohan Blake and his ultra-light, race-ready Richard Mille watch, Bolt’s Hublot is a big, heavy watch that would definitely slow him down on the track. But that doesn’t mean Bolt can’t sport it on the winner’s podium — and that is exactly what he did, accepting his gold medal for the 100m dash with a Hublot (named after him) on his wrist.

It was 2005 that Hublot originally released the Big Bang. This was at the height of the global economic boom (only to be followed by a huge downfall about three years later), and Hublot was about to become a powerhouse again. The Big Bang quite literally jump-started the once ailing brand. Just a few years before Hublot was purchased by Jean-Claude Biver who saw the brand as an investment and challenge. He had just come from Hublot, the former of which was purchased by Biver himself in the early 1980s for low price. An anniversary is marked by the historic gathering of 24 owners and their vehicles in one place for the first time. The common thread: the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. At the Abbey de Hautvillers, the historic heart of champagne Dom Pérignon (owned by LVMH), the 24 owners of the Ferrari 250 GTO have gathered this week. And who was there to announce a rather interesting new watch to mark the occasion? Hublot. The Hublot Ferrari 250 GTO, modeled on the Hublot Classic Fusion line, though entirely redesigned and rounded out. The secret to the Big Bang was how it was aimed at the right demographic with the right design. Hublot wasn't trying to convince Blancpain wearers to suddenly wear a modern looking high-end sport watch. Instead, Hublot was trying to offer other more standard luxury sport watch wearers something novel, and arguably more "now" to wear. Hublot was innovative in that it was perhaps the first major Swiss watch brand to focus on the affluent black community in the united states.
