Apparently Bhubaneswar also houses the airport which is nearest to Puri. Taxis and buses are available in abundance from Bhubaneswar to the holy city. Meanwhile, there are some good hotels in Puri also providing airport pick and drop services. Apart from that the trains are the other popular, rather more economical modes to access Puri. One of the major highlights of the city is the Jagannath Temple, which is situated at the eastern coast of the city. The temple is the very heart of the city, and visiting it is the top activity amongst the visitors. However, note that only those visitors who were born Hindu by birth are allowed to enter the temple; others have to pray from outside the temple. Being one of the most sacred temples in India, the Jagannath Temple remains busy with devotees. It is one of the most visited temples, and has a wooden deity of lord Jagannath. This is an interesting thing about the temple, because in general most of the temple's deity are not made up of wood. After every twelve or nineteen years the wooden idol is replaced with a new wooden idol made from a sacred tree in the midst of celebrations called Navakalevara ceremony.
