Excess moisture in air as well as dampness is considered bad for industrial applications since it degrades indoor air quality, damages products and also leads to many health problems. In this scenario the most suitable option is to purchase an industrial dehumidifier which helps in solving all these problems.

In the following sections let us go through some of the useful features these dehumidifiers have and also their application areas.

Features of Industrial Dehumidifier

a) Pint Capacity: There are dehumidifiers available with different pint capacities. It would be worth mentioning here that pint capacity refers to the amount (pints) of moisture any particular device can extract from air in 24 hours.

Starting with pint capacity of 70 and moving upward, you will have to make a selection based upon the amount of humidity present in your factory or similar other industrial establishment.

b) Humidistat: The main use of any humidistat is to determine RH (relative humidity) in air. There are humidity controlling devices available which have such humidistat built into them.

This means that the system can automatically adjust its configuration based upon the increase or decrease in humidity in the room.

c) Auto Defrost and Restart: The benefits of auto defrost facility is that the device can be used at places with low atmospheric temperature. You need to look for this feature if the device has to work in colder air below 30oF since normal appliances will not function properly at such low temperature.

The usefulness of auto restart feature is that the system will start after a power failure and retain the settings it was operating in before the power failure occurred. Thus you will not have to make the effort of changing the settings manually after every such power failure.

Applications of Dehumidifiers

The industrial dehumidifiers can be into application in following ways:

  • Controlling moisture in clean rooms, manufacturing processes and paint drying.

  • Storage of electronic components, deterring mould growth in breweries and fabric storage.

  • Maintenance of minimal dew point for common hygroscopic substances, preventing corrosion of iron and steel.

  • Drying any product which is sensitive to heat and control of odor in most of the sewage stations.

  • Maintaining product quality by control of moisture in corrugated paper.

  • Preventing ice formation in any cold store, reducing moisture levels in any building subsequent to water damage.

  • Preventing moisture condensation in cold surfaces such as floors as well as walls in grinding and machining facilities.

  • Deterring moisture regain in packaging industry.

  • Prevent condensation in structural parts in aircrafts as well as prevention of stress corrosion.

  • Drying of products like plastic resins, chromatography materials and diagnostic reagent powders.

  • Drying of indoor pools, museums, ice rinks, archives and super markets.
